Relax at the uncrowded, well-groomed courses surrounded by beautiful wine country and rolling green hills. Here are a few of our favorite courses throughout the county.

Avila Beach Golf Course – Avila Beach
Absolutely gorgeous course built amongst oak trees, a coastal valley, and a tidal estuary. Par 71, 6500-yard championship course.
Directions: From San Luis Obispo, take 101S about 5 miles. Exit on San Luis Bay Drive and turn right. Turn right at Avila Beach Drive towards Avila. Pass over the river near Avila and make a right on Ana Bay Road and follow the road towards the course.
Hunter Ranch Golf Course – Paso Robles
Set amongst blue oaks, vineyards and lakes, this course is phenomenal. Enjoy the country setting while playing world-class golf at a course voted one of the best in San Luis Obispo County.
Directions: From San Luis Obispo, take the 101N for 28 miles to CA-46 right towards Fresno and Bakersfield. Follow the road for about 3.5 miles and make another right at Service Road towards the course.
Monarch Dunes – Nipomo
Monarch Dunes features both the award-winning championship "Old Course" as well as the newly opened 12-hole Challenge Course, both designed by Damian Pascuzzo & Steve Pate. Reminiscent of the links-style courses in Scotland, this is a “must-play” course near San Luis Obispo.
Directions: Take 101 South to the CA-1 Pismo Beach/Wadsworth Avenue. Make a slight right onto CA-1/Dolliver Street and follow it for 12 miles. Turn left at Via Concha Road and another left at Trilogy Pkwy.
Dairy Creek Golf Course – San Luis Obispo
Dairy Creek Golf Course is a links course located at El Chorro Regional Park between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay, boasting incredible elevation changes, forced carries over water and rocky arroyos. Enjoy afternoon sea breezes that keep temperatures down and make it that much challenging.
Directions: Take Highway 1 North from San Luis Obispo towards Morro Bay. In about 5 miles, make a right on Dairy Creed Road, across from Cuesta College.
Cypress Ridge Golf Course – Arroyo Grande
A challenging but beautiful course in South County. This signature course was designed by Peter Jacobsen and in his own words, “has the key elements of what we try to create in all our design work, a fun, playable golf course that rewards the good shots and is both exciting and memorable for players of all abilities."
Directions: From San Luis Obispo, take the 101S for about 11 miles. Exit Ca-1 towards Pismo Beach. Make a slight right and follow HW 1 South/Dolliver St through Pismo Beach and Oceano. Make a slight left on Halcyon Road. Turn right at Cypress Ridge Parkway.
Chalk Mountain Golf Course – Atascadero
This well-established and beautifully maintained course boasts a comfortable and easy-going atmosphere. The hilly course has many oak trees lining its narrow fairways. Six holes feature creekside play.
Directions: From San Luis Obispo, take 101N 14 miles. Exit 218A toward Santa Rosa Road. Thurn right at San Gabriel Road. Turn left on El Camino Real and take the 1st right onto El Bordo Ave.
Blacklake Golf Course – Nipomo
Located between Santa Maria and Pismo Beach, Blacklake Golf Resort is the Central Coast's only 27 hole golf resort. Each of their three nines offer distinct challenges to golfers of all skill levels.
Directions: Take 101S from San Luis Obispo. Exit CA-1 toward Pismo Beach. Make a slight right onto CA-1/Dolliver St and follow for 10 miles. From CA-1, make a slight left at Willow Road. Turn left at Black Lake Canyon Drive and left at Golf Course Lane.
