Seasoned surfers can sniff out the adrenaline-pumping waves from San Simeon, Morro Bay, and Montaña de Oro in the north to Oceano and Guadalupe to the south. While those just getting their feet wet in surfing will want to head to local Central Coast surf shops and surf schools for board rentals, surf camps and classes, or a little local insight into the surf scene.
Before You Go:
To ensure good surf conditions, surfers should take into account details such as wind conditions and tides when selecting a surf spot. Generally, the mornings are the best time to surf, prior to the wind kicking in by mid-day, especially during the spring time. The water temperature typically oscillates between 52-59 degrees, so you should be prepared to wear a 3/2 or 4/3 millimeter wetsuit all year round.
